EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CANDIDATE PLEDGES

FAHIM AHMED

“Asalamu-alaikum, I, Fahim Ahmed currently a member of the Executive Committee and Assistant Treasurer.  My present duties are helping organize Jummah prayer times, the security of the Mosque, cleaning supplies, zebra crossing, Ramadan and religious occasions, Mosque facilities, memberships and fund raising etc.  I will continue doing all of them and also will do many other things for the development of the Mosque.  Good news is that the zebra crossing 1st hearing took place on 11 March 2013, final will be soon Insha’Allah.  Also, in the long term, I have been dedicated for the development of the Mosque and have attended 98% of the meetings. If I get elected, Insha’Allah I will continue to work for the whole Muslim Ummah.

RIYADH RASHID RAHIM CALLOU

“I will dedicate as much time and effort as I am able to help the Society achieve.  It’s aims and aspirations.  I will always act in the best interest of the Society and will make effort to do organize fund raising eventsfor the Society and I will endeavour to be an ambassador for the Society.”

SALIM CHOWDHURY

“Asalamu-alaikum.  My family and I have been an Epsom and Ewell Community member for past 20 years.  For the past four years I have had the honour of being an advisor to the EEIS Executive Committee.  I have made significant contributions in Committee meetings and the Masjid Operational Committeed.  Insha’Allah, if offered the opportunity to serve as a Committee member, I commit to serving the House of Allah and any decisions taken will be taken under the guidance of EEIS Constitution and most importantly in accordance of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.  I will work collaboratively and cohesively with the community and Committee members to meet the aims and objectives of EEIS.  I strongly believe that working together as one community and a united group, with good intentions we will be able to serve our beautiful Masjis and Ummah. Insha’Allah, I will also support the following: community cohesion, adult and children’s education, ongoing maintenance of the Masjid with due considerations to ensure health and safety of our Ummah whilst inside the Masjid.

“If elected, InshaAllah I will work to the best of my ability to support the Executive Committee to fulfil the aims and objectives of the Society. I will endeavour to play a proactive role in the Islamic education of our children.  This is something I am very passionate about and have been fully committed to for the last 8 years.  I believe that I have the ability, the experience, the willingness, the commitment and the passion to continue to contribute to the vision of the Society.”

“Asalamu-alaikum, Insha’ Allah I will work sincerely with my best intentions to contribute my time towards our Masjid.  I will try my upmost importance to apply for planning permission for burial for our deceased brothers and sisters at our Masjid. Jazak’Allah Khair.”

MOHAMED RASSOOL

“I sincerely pledge to serve the local community to the best of my abilities at the service of Allah Subhanawatallah and to make sure that abuses of power and authority are not tolerated.  I also pledge to speak out when elected officials in key positions are negligent in their duties and the Ummah had to pay the (financial) price for their incompetence.  I also pledge to attend all meetings and not to be absent for lengthy periods without any valid excuses.  I also intend that the premises of the EIC are fully used to their full capacity in terms of lectures and classes and finally I believe we should always be transparent and open and not secretive and divisive.  Ameen.”

M HAROON SIDDIQI

“Asalamu-alaikum. I have been attached with EEIS for the last 5 years and now I have been given the honour of standing in the Excecutive Committee elections.  Alhamdullilah, we have been blessed with this Masjid and the current  Committee, members and the volunteers have really worked hard to achieve and maintain high standards of discipline and learning environment.  Now it’s the duty of every single of us to play a positive role in fulfilling and maintaining the role of EEIS in the Muslim community.  If elected, working with the other Committee members as a team, I would try to make this Masjid a headquarters for the Muslims in Epsom where they can learn, teach, relax, socialize, ask for help, exchange views and sought the pleasure of Allah and good reputation.  With the help and support of other members I would also try to open up the doors of Masjid for our youths by promoting sport and other activities, arranging talks, interactive workshops/seminars, counselling service, career advice service and also making our children confident and proud Mulsims and training them to defend and advocate their religion in a positive and peaceful way if the need arises. Jazakum Allahu khairun kaseerah.”

“Aslm:  As a previous Trustee of the EEIS, Alhamdullilah, I have had the opportunity to work closely with all the Executive Members.  In future, I would like to be a link person, between the Imams, and the ex-com members and as well as towards the Ummah while ensuring that there is always an Imam to lead each daily salat and to be able to offer support to them when needed. I am fully committed to attend all future ex-com meetings, hope to participate in all discussion and decision making process regarding the Mosque.  I would also like to be involved in the day to day running of the Mosque whilst striving towards meeting all future aims/objectives of EEIS. Insha Allah. Ameen.”

“Asalamualaikum, I will be helping the Committee to run the Masjid smoothly as possible.  As Committee members we will look at ways of improvement and bring members of the community together to make our Masjid more successful.”
